FOR RACERS

  • Individual racers MUST be registered and waivers signed online in advance. Deadline to register as a racer: Jan. 31.
  • Teams captains: share the team name, password and link with your racers so they can self-register to race online and sign the waiver.
  • Racers riding on multiple teams must self-register for each team individually to appear on the official roster.
  • Teams and racers: sign-in and have your toboggan(s) inspection Friday in Tobogganville to avoid lines Saturday.
  • Team check-in and number pick-up for ALL DIVISIONS (2-, 3-, 4-Person, Exp.) CLOSES Saturday, Feb. 7, at NOON. Show up before you are due to race to complete the check-in process. We do not wait for late teams or racers.
  • Be on time for your runs or risk disqualification. We do not wait for late teams or racers.
  • Racers must have a bracelet showing you signed a waiver to race: Early pick up Friday in Tobogganville.
  • Racer substitutions and alternates are allowed at any time with signed waiver and a bracelet.
  • A dozen Snow Bowl (look for the sticker) toboggans are available for race teams to share. We do not race by team number, so grab a toboggan from the rack, get in line, take your run and return it. If the rack is empty, wait a few minutes for another team to bring one back. Snow Bowl toboggans cannot be held or saved for future use.

ATTIRE AND CHUTE SAFETY

  • Wear old clothes or clothes you don’t mind getting torn or abraded. There is always a good chance your clothes will rub the side of the chute during your ride.
  • Be sure your costume is not too bulky and does not have loose parts.
  • HELMETS are strongly recommended.
  • Gloves or mittens are required for all racers.
  • Keep your face covered if it is especially cold or windy.
  • Keep hands and feet tucked in and protected while moving in the toboggan chute.
  • Never reach out with hands or feet while moving in the chute.
  • Do not reach out or grab anything while moving in the toboggan chute. Failure to heed this warning WILL result in personal injury.
  • Do not attempt to stop the toboggan with hands or feet in the chute or on the ice.

RACING FORMAT

  • To Qualify for the Finals:
    • Each team is entitled to two runs in their division; only one run is required to qualify.
    • Qualifying runs must be taken within the timeframe for each division, as announced.
    • The fastest time of either run determines the teams in each division that are eligible to move to the Finals.
  • The Finals are comprised of the following:
    • 2-Person teams: Top 40 qualifying times/teams
    • 3-Person teams: Top 40 qualifying times/teams
    • 4-Person teams: Top 50 qualifying times/teams
    • Experimental: Top 25% qualifying times/teams
  • Each team is required to make two runs in the Finals.
  • All runs must be made within the published racing time slots as required by the U.S. National Toboggan Championships Committee.
  • The fastest combined times of both runs determines the final team standings and the winners.*
    • *In the event of a tie - Winner goes to fastest time in the finals. If those times are still the same, the winner will go to fastest qualifying time of the tied teams.

SPECIAL AWARD CATEGORIES

  • Fastest All-Female Team and Fastest Student Team (ages 12-18) are both determined by the fastest qualifying run of all teams (except Experimental teams) on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Teams must select All-Female or Student category during online registration to be considered.
  • Best Crafted Toboggan is determined by toboggan inspectors at inspection. Best Costume is determined by a judging panel during the parade (Saturday at noon from the chute, through Tobogganville to the vendors, where judges will be stationed).
  • Oldest Team is based on the oldest average of team members’ ages.
  • Fastest Time Overall is based on the fastest qualifying time of all teams (except Experimental teams) on Saturday and Sunday.

THE WORLDS

  • The Worlds are held every five race years.
  • The first place winner in the 4-Person division in any year prior to the upcoming Worlds year (2026)  is eligible to race.
  • Each eligible team must be comprised of at least one original team member to race.
  • Fastest single run of eligible teams determines final standings and the winner.
  • The 2026 Worlds will run on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. (approx.)
  • Eligible Worlds teams will receive a unique team number for this race.
  • Eligible 2026 Worlds teams: The Nads (1991), The Knoxers (1992), Throbbin Boggins (1993), Big Kahoonas (1994, 1995, 2005), Slab City Sliders (1996, 1997), Thrill Seekin' Patriots (1998), Beefy Boys (1999), Head of the Boards (2000), Quatro Dermis (2001), Foul Wind (2002), Vertically Inclined (2003), Take no Prisoners (2004), Exit Strategy (2006), Four Wingnuts (2007, 2008, 2011, 2020), Internal Bleeding (2009), Redneck Racers (2010), Bull Hoss Fusilliers (2012, 2013), Instigator (2014), 4 Lo (2015), The Dirigo Pups (2016), Bolt 1 (2017, 2024), Spudrunner 4 (2018, 2019), Whiskey on Ice 4 (2022, 2023), Hell Freezes Over-Alpha(2025).

THINGS TO DO

  • Chute will be open for practice runs and general public use for $10/person/hour, conditions permitting, on Friday, Feb. 6, noon-4 p.m. ($5/person for racers.)
  • During the races, plan to stay all day. There is lots to do and see, with food and beverages for sale in Tobogganville and in the Snow Bowl lodge.
  • The Snow Bowl is open for skiing and snowboarding Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

INFO & HELP

  • During the race, if you need help or information, go to the Ski Patrol station on the ice or the Souvenir/Team Check-In tent in Tobogganville.
  • Medical assistance is available at the Ski Patrol station on the ice near the chute run-out and in the Snow Bowl lodge, or go to the Souvenir/Team Check-in tent and we will summon appropriate help.

PARKING

  • There is no fee to park at the Snow Bowl Friday.
  • On-site vehicle parking is $20/car and is limited Saturday and Sunday. Carpooling is recommended. On-site parking often fills by mid-morning Saturday.
  • Parking lot opens at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
  • If you are bringing a toboggan, arrive early with your gear for a better chance at securing a parking space while the rest of your crew takes the shuttle bus.
  • No overnight parking at the Snow Bowl is allowed, vehicles will be towed at owner’s expense. (Exception: pre-paid VIP, Reserved and Satellite parking, unless it snows)

SHUTTLE BUS

  • FREE Shuttle Bus service runs to and from downtown Camden Saturday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Catch a bus on Mechanic Street (NEW location), between Washington and Free streets, approx. every 20 minutes.
  • Free downtown parking locations include: the Knox Mill parking lot on Knowlton Street, the Camden Public Safety Building parking lot on Washington Street, and the Public Landing parking lot at the harbor.
  • If you are bringing a toboggan, arrive early with your gear for a better chance at securing a parking space while the rest of your crew takes the shuttle bus.

DOGS

  • We discourage dogs at the venue. There is nowhere for dogs to stand to warm their paws, the crowds are large and the toboggan chute noise can be extremely stressful. Dogs are not allowed in or around the Snow Bowl lodge grounds or on any ski trails. Please be kind and leave pets at home.

ALCOHOL

  • No open containers of alcohol allowed by town ordinance; please carry in and carry out. Help keep Hosmer Pond, Tobogganville and the Snow Bowl clean and free of your debris.
